The basic idea for the epitaph includes a picture wall with seven representa
(behind them are works by Ritter as well as his likeness) in the arrangement of a Petersburg hanging, which was realised in the form of individual bronze reliefs. In this way, Ritter's studio or living situation from his time, as known from photographs, was taken up. By reproducing selected works by Ritter, the cityscape of Nuremberg, which the artist himself held in such high esteem, as well as the city's history are to be honoured.
The lettering "Paul Ritter" is also reproduced in a shaped palette in the deaf alphabet.
