On Dürer's gravestone are two bronze plaques with inscriptions

and a coat of arms plaque of the Frey and Rummel families of Albrecht Dürer's parents-in-law, 1521. The grave was created at the death of Dürer's mother-in-law Anna Frey, née Rummel in 1521. The father-in-law Hans Frey died in 1523.


The upper inscription placed obliquely on the grave was written by Willibald Pirckheimer.


 The bronze plaque (in Latin and German) placed horizontally on the gravestone,

by Sebastian Denner, was donated by the painter Joachim Sandrart (1681).
