Josua and Kaleb with grapes
(see also : Beham, H.S.: Biblische Historien... 1536 / "Auspeher des Lands Canana". ) Copy of Adam Kraft by Albert Feist The original by Adam Kraft, today in the German National Museum, was formerly at the house number 20 in Bindergasse, the estate of which extended as far as to Platnergasse. The relief refers to the name of the house owner Ulrich Weynmann, who acquired the house in 1492. In 1497 it belonged to Hans Maurer, one of his creditors (house book by Karl Kohn). Because of the relief the house, which was destroyed in World War II, was named “House of the Grapes”. In the 19th century the grapes were gilded and the house was also called ”House of the Golden Grapes.”
