Leonhard Oelhafen, Dr. the right and imperial secretary, died in Nuremberg on March 15, 1517. His tombstone was in front of the St. Peters Altar in St. Sebald. For the wedding of his brother Sixt Oelhafen in 1501 to Anna, daughter of Seitz Pfinzing, Leonhard Oelhafen gave him a gold-plated cup with a lid. The main change in Dürer's composition is the "insertion" of the donor figure and the associated shift to the right. Reduction to two figures standing at the front right. At the rear edge of the grave, figures have moved into the new gap.
