Spilling, Willy (Karl Wilhelm), Dr. phil., Composer, music editor * 18. 9. 1909 Nuremberg – † 14. 8. 1965 Nuremberg

After attending Grammar School he started piano and composition studies at the Nuremberg academy of music and from 1928 on studied Musicology at the University Erlangen with Gustav Becking whom he followed to Prague. After obtaining his doctorate in 1831 he was recommended by Becking´s successor Rudolf Steglich in Erlangen and worked as an assistant at the Institute of Musicology of the University Erlangen. Together with his brother Robert he founded the chamber music ensemble „Collegium Musicum“ in 1931 as well as two other musical associations.
