Design of a goblet

Design of a goblet

Design of a goblet

around 1545

Flötner's interest in motifs from nature is particularly evident in a monogrammed, black-ground goblet design with snails (including a trace of slime) at the base, as well as in the fruit arrangements found everywhere (preferably with pears or quinces), in shell and scale decoration and, more rarely, in pure leaf patterns.

None of these designs can be found in executed form today (...).
