Architect Of Early Modernism and of the Early Post-War-Period. The epochs of architecture in the 20th century are clearly reflected in his works, but he does not belong to the avant-garde (Bauhaus). Especially his monument for the soldiers killed at Luitpoldhain has many international parallel lines. The Pellerhaus which he newly built together with his son remains controversial in so far as the doubtlessly good architecture can hardly be considered to be a true replacement of the original epoch-making front of the building. The house has remained a half-reconstruction since the 1950s. The state of the partly reconstructed inner courtyard has merely been an emergency solution before the intervention of the "Altstadtfreunde".
