Sebald Beham can be considered to be a brilliant virtuoso of the Italian Mannerism.
Dealing with mythological topics he was able to focus on depicting naked people in his works. His emphasizing the eroticism is quite evident, which sometimes reaches the boundaries of pornography – in this respect he was the absolutely pioneering artist. after the period of Ancient Greece and Rome Concerning technical perfection his small formats are of such a high quality that they leave one speechless.
