Anne´s Altar General view

Anne´s Altar

1510

General view

Stiftung der Ottilie (d. 9.5.1521), who was married in her first marriage to the innkeeper and butcher Haintz Mayer (d. 14.4.1507) and in her second marriage to Jörg Regenfuß (d. 30.12.1536), merchant and innkeeper.

Painting: Hans Süß of Kulmbach 1510.

Carved figures by Master Jörg

About the founder: On 29.10.1507 the widow Ottilie Mayer came to an agreement with the relatives of her first husband Hans and Lorenz Mayer about mining shares in Villach, to which the latter two no longer had any claim. In 1510, she donated the Annen altar in St. Lorenz as well as the associated equipment and a prebend of 40 fl. per year for a priest. For this purpose she deposited 1200 fl. with the municipal lottery fund. The annual interest was used to pay for the benefice. In 1518 she acquired a house at Lorenzer Platz 13 (pre-war numbering), which served as a benefice house for the priest.
