A bronze medallion by Albrecht Dürer was created in 1826 based on Heideloff's designs and executed by Daniel Burgschmiet. On the occasion of his 300th birthday, it was placed above the portal of Dürer's former home at Tiergärtnertor. The artist's portrait can be seen en face on the medallion and the representation follows the famous self-portrait from 1500. The semicircular curved name "Albrecht Dürer" adorns the upper space of the medallion, which is framed by laurel leaves in the lower half. The relief is one of the first evidence of Nuremberg's veneration of Dürer in the 19th century. (...)
