"The grave's cover slab bears an intact brass epitaph displaying a coat of arms with a griffin rampant to the left on a triple mount within a shield that tapers to an oval at the bottom. The inscription reads 'Joerg Öllinger 1532'. (...) The year '1532' cast into the coat of arms slab has led many scholars to the mistaken belief that it refers to the death date and burial site of Georg Öllinger's father, who supposedly bore the same first name. Only recently has it been recognized that the simple year inscription in St. John's Cemetery referred almost exclusively to the date the burial plot was acquired. The pharmacist purchased the final resting place at that time following the death of his second wife, Anna, in December of the previous year. The grave also contains the remains of Öllinger's third wife and himself, and presumably other family members as well. Perhaps the original plan was to place a slab with the coat of arms of one of his wives opposite his own coat of arms, but this never came to pass. Öllinger's coat of arms actually bears..." a griffin facing heraldically to the right (left from the viewer's perspective): Dominic Olariu -Georg Öllinger's Herbal-
