The Crucified

The Crucified

The Crucified

ca. 1511 1514

The Crucified with the Madonna, St. John, Mary Magdalene and Donors.

The panel was part of the famous collection of Paolo del Sera, agent of Cardinal Leopoldo de Medici in Venice, who was responsible for selecting the huge quantity of works of art on the art market of the lagoon city.

When he died in 1672, the collection was bought by the Cardinal himself and brought to Florence.

The sigil HK as the signature of the panel was changed to MR at an unknown time, which made the attribution to the German artist difficult.

The panel was first inventoried in the Uffizi in 1777.
