Evangelist window of Lucas and John
After the Second World War, when everything was destroyed, the historical buildings in Nuremberg were also to be restored. In the towers of the Lorenzkirche, all four windows were to be replaced in contemporary art. Wolfgang Fries' friend, the city planning director Julius Lincke (1909-1991) and the then pastor of the Lorenzkirche Willy Geyer supported the project. Wolfgang Fries designed four stained glass windows with the four evangelists (John, Matthew, Mark and Luke).
Unfortunately, Mark and Matthew fell victim to a visitors' kiosk. However, John and Luke shine in full colourful splendour and invite longer meditative contemplation."
