The Gaßhenker of Erlangen-Bruck
The legend tells of a farmer from Bruck who went in search of fresh grass for his goat. It wasn't long before he spotted lush grass between the towers of the Church of St. Peter and Paul. But although goats are known to be true climbing experts, a big problem arose. Never short of a solution, he got a rope and pulled the poor goat up into the air. But instead of feasting on the lush green grass, the goat hanged itself miserably. Since that day, the people of Bruck have also been known as "The Goat Hangmen." In 1994, the Nuremberg sculptor Professor Wilhelm Uhlig, while searching for a live goat model, came across our goat farm. He was commissioned to create a bronze monument to this very goat. (...)
