He trained at the Nuremberg School of Arts and Crafts and at the Academy of Arts in Paris. Munich became his permanent residence where he worked as a watercolorist. His romantic architectural watercolors, especially of Nuremberg, often feature medieval persons and phantastic details. Travelling through the orient he found a multitude of motifs.
