Son of Paulus, carpenter and salt merchant. ∞ I) 29th May 1741 Dorothea (born 4th March 1748), daughter of Johann Adelmann, carpenter, one son, one daughter; II) 4th March 1749 Anna Maria (born 22nd January 1777), daughter of Johann Beck, cattle butcher. From 1745 to 1786 he was registered as an engraver in the official register, deleted in 1786. Named from 1751 to 1786, but described as an engraver and carpenter. In 1784 the note “ill” can be found there. He mainly engraved documents, maps and vignettes, but also plates for natural history works and sheet music. In 1781 he donated three trumpets and a bassoon to the music choir at St. Egidien. At the time of his death he lived at the smelting works (Rotschmiedsgasse). Panzer recorded his portrait as well as his involvement as a letter engraver in six portrait engravings of Nuremberg citizens. Works: ERLANGEN, Neustädter Church: lettering of an altar cross.
