Son of Carl, a coppersmith, and Barbara. He was a coppersmith, art caster, and tap maker, buried in Nuremberg, grave no. A 37b in the Johannisfriedhof cemetery, dated 1678, still extant. ∞ I) Esther (buried January 29, 1674), II) Gertraud.
He became a master craftsman in 1658 and a juror in 1679. His mark was an acorn and his name; from 1684 onward, he adopted his father's mark: a crown and his name; he placed the acorn in the chest. C. G. Müller recorded a coppersmith with a "water chain invented by David Zeltner," also mentioned by Heinrich Pfister. He lived in the Alte Ledergasse (Old Leather Lane), perhaps in the house that had previously belonged to his father (Tuchergasse 40, pre-war numbering).
