Son of Georg Peter, pastor. Died Bamberg April 9, 1939 Dr. med. Gertrud Jensen, one son, one daughter. He came to Heroldsberg with his parents as a child. From 1917 attended the School of Arts and Crafts, 1918 military service, 1919-22 training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Nuremberg under Rudolf Schiestl. 1922-27 studied at the Berlin Academy of Arts under Hans Meid, ultimately his master student. Study trips: 1924 to Italy, 1926 to Paris, 1929 and 1933 more trips to Italy. 1927-39 he settled in Heroldsberg as a freelance painter and graphic artist. In the spring of 1939 he moved to Bamberg. 1940-45 called up to the Wehrmacht. 1946-66 Professor of landscape painting and free graphics at the AdBK Nuremberg (Ellingen), its director from 1948-57, head of the class for free graphics in 1962, retired in 1966. His painting work is wide-ranging, and includes still lifes, portraits and landscapes in oil, watercolor, pastel and as drawings. In addition, paper cuttings play an important role. Tapestries based on his designs were produced in the Nuremberg tapestry factory. 1932 Dürer Prize winner of the city of Nuremberg. Member of the Association of Franconian Artists.
