Son of Johann Sebastian, wax boss. ∞ June 4, 1801 Maria Eleonora (* August 1, 1761 – † March 20, 1816), daughter of Johann Gottfried Hilpert, tin caster, probably childless (see also Maria Eleonora Hilpert). Lessons with his brother Johann Caspar. He learned copper engraving and etching from Andreas Leonhard Möglich. He also attended the Nuremberg Painting Academy, which awarded him prizes for nude drawings in 1771 and 1772. In 1778 he worked for the art publisher Carl August Grossmann in Augsburg and was also honored here in 1781 and 1782. Around 1782 he traveled to Ulm, where he painted portraits. Since 1783 he has been back in Nuremberg, where he took lessons in field measurement and civil architecture from Johann Leonhard Maximilian Keyl. From 1787 he was registered as an engraver in the Ämterbüchlein. He mainly engraved views of Nuremberg and published historical sheets, portraits, geometric photographs and drawing instruction books. C. G. Müller listed 15 brochures with views of Nuremberg. He is also said to have worked as a wax master, miniature painter and surveyor and traded in tin figures, which he had inherited from his father-in-law in 1801. In his first home at Breite Gasse 73, which he shared with his brother Johann Caspar, he ran an art shop that was more of an engraving workshop and still existed in 1829. Through his marriage in 1801 he became co-owner of his father-in-law's house at Oberer Bergauerplatz 1, where he lived until the end; he died in the Holy Spirit Hospital. Panzer recorded two portrait engravings of Nuremberg citizens based on his own designs. He had been a member of the Painting Academy since 1786; He was one of the signatories of a petition “Thoughts, Ideas, Requests and Wishes” written by Andreas Leonhard Möglich to Director Ihle about the Nuremberg Artists' Institute and the Art Academy, which was handed over on March 3, 1788. In 1792 he was a co-founder of the Association of Artists and Art Friends, which was merged with the Albrecht Dürer Association in 1830. Works: List of his Nuremberg prospectuses see C. G.
