Veit d. J.
Hirsvogel (Hirschvogel, Hirsfogel)

stained glass painter

born Nürnberg, 1487 (nicht 1485)

died Nürnberg, 23. Apr 1553

Grave No. 903 in St. John's cemetery; epitaph still available.

Son of Veit the Elder, father of Sebald. ∞ I) Margaretha, † 1541/ 1542; II) 16.5.1542 Margaretha Lehenmännin.

On 7.3.1522 he acknowledged his father the maternal and sisterly inheritance. In 1525 he took over his father's workshop and became his father's successor as town glazier by Rv. dated 24.12.1526, which office he held for 27 years.

In 1528 he and his brother Augustin sold their father's house Innere Laufer Gasse 5. Possibly he remained living in the house or nearby, because in the death entries for his son of the same name in 1540, for his wife Margarethe in 1541/42 and also for him in the Totengeläutbuch the address Innere Laufer Gasse was given.
