Son of Nikolaus Moritz. Educated by his father. Afterwards he went on the road and worked in Saxony, on the Rhine, in Swabia and in Franconia. He worked in Nuremberg and as a Brandenburg-Ansbach chamber painter in Ansbach and Erlangen. He died in Nuremberg in custody on the water tower. Panzer recorded his self-portrait as well as three other portraits for portrait engravings of Nuremberg citizens. Towards the end of his life he became insane. (...)
