Training as a type setter, attended the Nuremberg School of Arts and Crafts from 1917 to 1921, study trip to Italy in 1925. Produced illustrations for the magazine „Fränkische Heimat“ in Nuremberg. Founded a printing office together with his brother Eugen in 1932, where among other works art calendars with wood- and linocuts of their own were published. From 1939 to 1945 military service and war imprisonment. After the war he mainly worked in the printing office.
