(...) When he was only 20 years old he received the commission to make a memorial of Gustav Adolf of Sweden on his death bed. During the Thirty Years' War he made small-format reliefs with scenes from the Bible and medallion portraits based on graphical models from the Durer time on graphic, most of all of works by Durer and Aldegrever in reliefs, which were kept as virtuoso works of art in treasure-chambers. He restored the crucifix of Veit Stoss in St. Sebaldus Church.
