Like his brother Sebald Beham was an artist of the Renaissance every, i. e. for the first time in Nuremberg without any Gothic overtones. His source was the graphic Œuvre of Durer and his epigone Marcantonio Raimondi as well as the works of Agostino Veneziano. The Behams got into conflict with the City and were evicted from the City in 1525 (the “godless painters of Nuremberg).
