The Nuremberg graphic artist Heinz Schillinger became known by designing stamps with drawings of German cities and buildings. From 1962 on he won almost 400 competitions of the German Bundespost. Schillinger´s works are characterized by lucid depictions of architecture and focus on the essence of the structures. They disseminated a traditional image of Germany worldwide. The stamp “Limburg cathedral” he created in 1985 was officially elected to be the most beautiful stamp of the world.
