"1864-66 attended the arts and crafts school in Nuremberg, August von Kreling.

1866 apprenticeship with Caspar von Zumbusch in Munich. 1867-69 in Rome, 1869 in Berlin, from1872 in Florence, worked from 1892 alternately in Florence and Munich. He created numerous portrait busts, monuments, fountains and sepulchral monuments.(...)

The Schiller monument was endowed on the occasion of the centenary of the poet´s death by the lead pencil factory owner Johannes Grasser."
